Gurcharan Mall
Famed as one of the finest exponents of the Dhol, Gurcharan Mall’s first recognition came after playing with Bhangra group Apna Sangeet. Since then he has received numerous awards including ITV Central’s Arts leadership Midlander of the year (2005) and in 2009 he helped set a new world record of the 632 Dhol players, in Guinness World book of records. Perhaps his biggest performance came when he performed live at Live 8 in London with UB40 in 1996.
