Faces of the World
Faces of the world is a series of street portraits that first began when Jaskirt Dhaliwal travelled to three different continents in 2008 whilst working on a cruise ship.
Contact time with local people was limited and taking these portraits gave Jaskirt the opportunity to meet, discover and experience a city, village or town in a unique way. From Peter in Copenhagen, a young enigmatic biker to Jared a rock musician who served in the military from Canada.
Faces of the world also aims to challenge preconceptions about nationality and identity. Does the face fit your stereotype of an Italian, Spanish or Canadian person? Or does it tell you something else or nothing at all?
Jaskirt continues to take street portraits in any new city she visits abroad as part of this body of work.
