Uniform
Working on a Cruise liner you meet and work with people from all around the world. The uniform you wear is imperative to your job, from the cruise pin to the colour socks. But how much does it tell you about the person?
The cruise company are pretty anal about the uniform, more so then I've ever experienced anywhere. The cruise pin had to be on the left breast, with the cruise logo pin being exactly 1.5 inches above it. However silly I thought these rules were for most people working on ships they were of the up-most importance, because their reality back home was far worse.
Those from the Philippines and India were paid less for the same jobs from those of the EU or America. Blatant prejudice based on the origin's of ones country was accepted as the norm because the pay rate was so great for those from the Philippines and India despite it being lower then others.
There are two worlds on a cruise ship, those that the holiday makers experience, and the one where the crew live. The uniform they wear encompasses the pride for their job, but on deck 4 and below that is where they let loose and live for real.
